Happy Sunday, everyone. Just a quick note to tell you that my recent novel, California Bear, is available on Kindle today for only $2.99. If you’ve been waiting to check it out (or wanted to gift a copy to a friend), now’s your chance!
California Bear is about an ex-cop who coerces an ex-con into blackmailing an ex-serial killer. This plan, as you might imagine, goes a little haywire.
Right now I’m working on a film adaptation of Bear for 20th Century Studios with screenwriter and playwright Gary Lennon, guided by the film team at Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media. Weird how my year has been literally bookended with this novel; I was on tour with it in January, and pitching it around town in February and March. And now we’re going to spend the next few months reinventing it as a feature.
So this is your opportunity to read California Bear now so you can someday join your friends in the theater with an insufferably smug expression on your face because you know who did it.
Unless we change it for the film version.
(Not saying we’re doing that. I’m just saying you’ll want to cover your bases...)
And c’mon, what else you gonna do with three bucks on a Sunday?
Also: thanks to all who have been reading along as I post weekly chapters of my pulp non-fiction gangster memoir, Man Full of Trouble. Chapter One and Chapter Two are already up, and you can look for Chapter Three this coming Tuesday.
Special thanks to my Trouble Gang of paid subscribers who are funding this project. You’ll be receiving a special thank-you bonus over the holidays!
Ordered! Thanks
Congrats! You must be having a blast adapting it.
